Disney’s Strange World trailer features a whimsical new alien planet

A magical new world awaits in the first trailer for Walt Disney Animation Studio’s upcoming original feature film, strange world.

Director Don Hall (Big Hero 6, Raya and the last dragon) and co-director and screenwriter Qui Nguyen (Raya and the last dragon) are the masterminds behind a special place filled with bright, quirky colors and great adventure in store. The trailer teases “a journey like you’ve never seen before” and features the animated film’s strange alien creatures, a walking cliff, and slimy waterfalls that adorn this “strange world.” strange world premieres November 23.

According to the synopsis, strange world “Journeys deep into an uncharted and treacherous land where fantastical creatures await the legendary Clades, a family of explorers whose differences threaten to upend their last – and by far – most crucial mission.”

strange world will star Jake Gyllenhaal (The guilty, Spider-Man: Far From Home) as the Searcher Clade, the son of a legendary explorer. Along with the trailer, Disney released the first poster of strange world as well. Like the trailer opening, the first poster of strange world pays homage to retro designs reminiscent of mid-20th century pulp sci-fi movie posters, much like the posters of cult franchises such as star wars Where IndianaJones. The poster invites audiences to “travel to a place where nothing is as it appears,” adding to the mystery of the upcoming sci-fi animated adventure film.

It’s currently unclear whether the film will premiere exclusively in theaters, be available to stream on Disney+, or release simultaneously. While previous Disney animated releases, like Encantoenjoyed a limited theatrical release for just 30 days before releasing exclusively on Disney+ in December 2021.
