After a major delay that delayed Halo Infinite a year ago, fans are finally getting to the game’s December 8 launch on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. And to rock gamers, Microsoft and 343 Industries have released a new campaign trailer that looks a lot better than the much-maligned original.
In an article on Halo Waypoint Blog, the team released a new 6:20 trailer for Halo Infinite. And not only are the graphics better, but the trailer gives a better explanation of the story players can experience in what 343 calls “the greatest campaign to date”.
Below is the campaign overview trailer for Halo Infinite. The story is about Master Chief on the hunt for Cortona, his former AI assistant, who became a thug and tried to destroy humanity. For Master Chief, who is a bit lonely, Cortana is sort of his only friend.
Joining him is a new AI named The Weapon, whose goal is to lock down Cortana.
The game takes place on Zeta Halo, a lush world that has been invaded by The Banished.
In terms of gameplay, Halo has always been sort of a broad, but linear, open world. While the levels at which players can play are important, there was usually only one way to move the campaign forward, and that was to switch between shootouts. In Infinite, it looks like Master Chief will have to take down enemy outposts, like in Far Cry 6. It also looks like players will be able to upgrade their abilities, a common RPG mechanic.
Overall, it looks like the year extension was well spent by 343 Industries. Not that last year’s trailer was bad, but it was missing a few final coats of finish that you would expect from an Xbox AAA title. Fans were worried about the game as key figures on the project had left 343. It also didn’t help that the game was would have facing problems due to high volumes of outsourcing.
Either way, we’ll have to see how Halo Infinite ranks when it launches on December 8 for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
