Venom: let there be carnage is in theaters now, Spider-Man: No Path Home is in theaters next month, and after that? It’s vampire time. Realized by Daniel Espinosa (Life) from a screenplay by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (The last witch hunter), Morbius stars Oscar winner Jared Leto (The suicide squad) like Michael Morbius. There are many more finished visual effects of the last time we saw Morbius, a few other things surely jumped out here. For example, Michael Keaton, who was said to play his Spider-Man: Homecoming character Adrian Toomes. This would definitely bind Morbius to the MCU from the get-go, but there’s more. Morbius himself refers to Venom, hinting at future cinematic connections, especially since [SPOILER WARNING] Venom: Let There Be Carnage show Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in his end credits. Both are very intriguing little teases that we hope won’t take away from the overall story.
And while fans might start to contextualize Morbius based on its output after Spider-Man: No Path Home, do not forget Morbius Originally slated for release in July 2020, well ahead of Spider’s next multi-verse saga. One would assume, if at all, that reactions to this film’s impact on being Spider-Man with all of his villains in the foreground would have been added much later.
Nonetheless, we’ll find out soon enough how it all ties together. Morbius, which co-stars Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal and Tyrese Gibson hits theaters on January 28.
