Standing actors Bobcat goldthwait and Dana gould have been longtime “enemies” for decades (35 years, to be precise), and now they’re documenting their latest road trip adventure in the next movie Joy ride. Collider can exclusively reveal the trailer for the documentary that follows Goldthwait and Gould as they roam America’s highways, reflect on their respective careers, and perhaps rethink their entire friendship. Joy ride hits theaters and On Demand on October 29.
The trailer – and the documentary, by extension – appears to begin with the two comedians hilariously recalling the events of their 2019 car crash, which made headlines at the time. Fortunately, Gould and Goldthwait suffered only minor injuries, and the experience clearly didn’t stop them from getting back together in a car – or driving in all weather, like the Joy ride the trailer reveals. Images of their shared stand-up routines interspersed with their on-the-road talks make this a documentary longtime fans won’t want to miss.
Goldthwait is an actor, director and screenwriter best known for his stand-up, as well as for his role as Zed McGlunk in the Police academy movies. He has directed films such as Shake the clown, God bless America, and Willow stream, and has also done many dubbing for series like Bob’s burgers and movies like 1997 Hercules. Gould, meanwhile, is an actor, writer and vocal artist who has written for The simpsons for seven years and was executive producer for four seasons. He is also a guest in episodes of Seinfeld, family guy, Parks and recreation, and Horror show.
Joy ride is directed by Bobcat Goldthwait and hits theaters and On Demand on October 29. Check out the exclusive trailer and poster below:
