New Line Cinema and HBO Max haven’t released a synopsis for KIMI, but the two-minute trailer presents the story pretty well. Zoë Kravitz (soon seen in The batman) plays the role of a “vocal stream interpreter” who thinks she has heard a murder, the title of the film referring to an Alexa-type device that listens to everything … 24/7.
Talk with IGN, Oscar-winning actor Steven Soderbergh has explained his attraction to David Koepp’s screenplay. “I like thrillers, in general. It’s the kind of movie that I like to watch. And so when the opportunity arises to make a thriller that has something underneath that prevents it from being single-use plastic, then I’m interested, ”Soderbergh said.
In addition to Zoë Kravitz, the cast of KIMI includes Byron Bowers (No sudden movement), Jaime Camil (Schmigadoon), Erika Christensen (Traffic), Derek DelGaudio (Derek DelGaudio is in itself), Robin Givens (Riverdale), Charles Halford (Lucky logan), Devin Ratray (Side effects), Jacob Vargas (The 33) and Rita Wilson (Mom Mia!).
Steven Soderbergh’s creative team includes production designer Philip Messina (the Che films), costume designer Ellen Mirojnick (Lucky logan, Behind the candelabra) and composer Cliff Martinez (Contagion, Traffic).
The R-rated thriller will premiere on HBO Max on February 10, 2022.
