Made in Abyss Season 2 Release Date Announced, Gets Third Trailer

Made in Abyss: The sun blazes on the golden city (Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ougonkyou) anime has released a third trailer. The show, which is the second of the season of Made in the Abyss anime, also announced its July 6 premiere in Japan. HiDive has announced that it will stream the series.

The new trailer focuses on the Ganja Corps and previews the ending song “Endless Embrace” by MYTH & ROID.

Made in Abyss: The sun blazes on the golden city is based on the Made in the Abyss manga by Akihito Tsukushi. The manga published by Takeshobo, serialized on Web Comic Ganma and published under the Bamboo Comics label, began in 2012 and has ten tankoubon volumes as of July 2021. The first season of the anime series was released in 2017 and followed by a two-part compilation movie and the Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul film in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Sentai Filmworks describes the first season as follows:

The “Abyss” is the last unexplored region, a huge and treacherous cave system filled with ancient relics and strange creatures. Only the bravest adventurers can traverse its depths, earning them the nickname “Cave Raiders”. In the depths of the Abyss, a girl named Riko comes across a robot that looks like a young boy. Tempted by the Abyss, Riko and her new friend descend into uncharted territory to unravel its mysteries, but what awaits them in the darkness?

The returning staff from the first season of Made in the Abyss understand Masayuki Kojima as a director, Hitoshi Haga as deputy director, Hideyuki Kurata as screenwriter, Production IG’s Kazuchika Kise as a character designer, Takeshi Takakura as a design leader, Inspired’s Osamu Masuyama as artistic director, Misao Yamashita as colorist, T2 Studio’s Tsunetaka Emma as director of photography, and Kevin Penkin as a music composer. Citrus Kinema is again the animation production company.

New staff additions include Yuka Kuroda (Gekijouban Shoujo Kageki Starlight Review lead animator) as co-character designer and Inspired’s Teru Sekiguchi (Alternative Hololive PV teaser) as co-artistic director. In addition, Ko Yoshinari is no longer listed as a creature creator.

Meanwhile, the returning voice cast includes Miyu Tomita like Riko, Mariya Ise like Reg, and Shiori Izawa like Nanachi. Joining them are Misaki Kuno like Faputa, Yuka Terasaki like Vueko, Hiroaki Hirata like Wazukyan, and Mitsuki Saiga like Belaf.
