New trailer reveals features exclusive to the PS5

A new Hogwarts Legacy trailer showed off the unique features the game will have on the PS5.

The trailer was released on Youtube Tuesday and it details exactly how the game will use the technology intrinsic to the next-gen console.

The majority of the gameplay footage appears to be from the Hogwarts Legacy State of Play presentation in March, but it also shows how the PS5 will make the game unique.

The trailer is titled “PS5 next-gen immersion” and shows off some of the game’s stunning visuals in 4K.

It also reveals that the PS5 controller’s dynamic lightbar will change color depending on which house you’re sorted into – it’ll be red for Gryffindor, for example, and yellow for Hufflepuff.

Haptic feedback is also intended to be used throughout the experience, to accompany the player flying through the air, whether on a broomstick or on the back of a beast.

Adaptive triggers will also give players a real feel for the spells they cast when engaged in combat or mixing potions, while 3D audio will provide a surround sound feel, especially if you own the Pulse 3D headset.

WB Games Avalanche Community Manager Chandler Wood explained more, in a PlayStation Blog which was released with the trailer.

Hogwarts Legacy

He said: “We specifically isolated these effects to the right side of the controller to allow the DualSense to become an extension of the wand you hold in-game.

“And when you deflect a spell with Protego, you’ll feel the sizzle of magic reflected and absorbed by the Shield Charm.”

Wood also explained that there will be graphics options, allowing players to choose between prioritizing framerate or visuals.

He continued, “Visually, we’ve come a long way since the days of beloved Hagrid on the original PlayStation. Hogwarts Legacy on PS5 lets you experience Hogwarts and its surroundings in stunning 4K, as well as choose between Fidelity and Performance graphics modes. This choice will allow you to create your preferred experience, whether it’s prioritizing a higher frame rate or visual fidelity.

The game remains slated for a Holidays 2022 release, and we’ll keep you posted as an official date is revealed.
