A scruffy, white-haired Hanks is shown enjoying a not-yet-animated Pinocchio (voiced in the film by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) at his workbench in the first look.

Pinocchio’s design in the film is a close replica of the animated image character’s design, complete with a yellow hat with a red feather and an almost identical face.

“Pinocchio” is directed by Robert Zemeckis and produced by Andrew Milano from a screenplay written by him and Chris Weitz.

This Disney Plus movie isn’t the only movie planned about the famous puppet.

“Pinocchio: A True Story,” an animated film starring Pauly Shore, will be released on March 22 by Lionsgate Entertainment.

Netflix is also set to premiere a stop-motion animated film about Pinocchio in December, starring Gregory Mann, Ewan McGregor and David Bradley, and directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson.

“The Little Mermaid,” which hits theaters May 26, 2023, and “Peter Pan & Wendy,” which like “Pinocchio” will be a Disney Plus exclusive, are two other upcoming live-action remakes of Disney animated films.
