For many Sonic the Hedgehog fans, nothing beats the classics. Sonic Heroes was pretty decent, but recent Sonic games haven’t lived up to what people expect from Sega and Blue Blur. With Sonic’s original appearances considered some of the best platformers of all time, fans will be delighted to know that Sega is bringing them back with stunning remastered visuals via Sonic Origins. Sonic Origins will feature four remastered titles, featuring hours of nostalgia-filled platforming fun from the following games: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. Sega revealed that Sonic Origins will be released on June 23, 2022. – this is when the first Sonic the Hedgehog title launched in North America in 1991 on the Sega Mega Drive Genesis.

Sonic Origins Platforms and Digital Deluxe Edition Bonuses

As you can see at the end of the Sonic Origins trailer above, Sonic Origins will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.

On all of these digital storefronts, players can purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition of Sonic Origins to access bonus challenging missions, additional music, additional character animations and more. As reported by VGC, this also includes a mirror mode and camera controls on the main menu islands – an unusual feature to lock behind a paywall.
