Teton Pass will open to trailer traffic on April 1

WILSON, Wyo. – Teton Pass will open to trailer traffic on Friday, following the seasonal closure since Nov. 15.

The pass will be open to trailer traffic, subject to conditions.

Trucks and trailers are allowed to use Teton Pass if they weigh less than 60,000 lbs.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation warns that Teton Pass is extremely dangerous for overweight trucks, “the steep grade, length of grade and severity of curve can cause trucks to lose control.”

When conditions are dangerous, the laws of the chain come into effect. In Wyoming, penalties for violating chain laws can result in a $250 fine or a $750 fine for violations that result in a road closure.

Trucks may use alternate routes around Teton Pass. The most frequently used alternate route from Idaho is through Swan Valley in Idaho to Hoback Jct in Wyoming. on Wyoming Highway 26/89.
