nintendo began streaming an intro trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 3the last opus of Xenoblade Chronicles role-playing series, Friday. The trailer contains explanations of some of the game’s mechanics and characters.
Main characters include Noah, Eunie, Lanz, Mio, Taion, and Sena. The world includes large open spaces, settlements with citizens, and rest areas. The game will also include auto-navigation and landmarks for warps.
In battle, players can use arts assigned to buttons, link arts for combos and chain attacks, and swap characters mid-battle. Party members have a class that influences their attributes and how they fight. Classes include Swordfighter, Zephyr, Medic Gunner, Tactician, Heavy Guard, and Ogre. Members can change class.
Characters can also merge into creatures known as Ouroboros. Ouroboros has different shapes depending on which of the two characters controls. Additional characters called Heroes can join the party as a seventh member. Heroes introduce additional classes and arts.
The game will receive a paid DLC expansion pass that includes a new story scenario, outfits, quests, and battles, with new installments released intermittently until December 2023.
The game will launch for the Switch on July 29, ahead of its originally announced September release date. A special edition will be available in the My nintendo Store, which will include box art from the character creator Masatsugu Saitoa hardcover art book and a steel case.

The Xenoblade Chronicles X “spiritual successor” shipped for the Wii U system in December 2015. Tetsuya Takahashi previously expressed a desire to port Xenoblade Chronicles X at the switch.
